Bumbles Cafe, Budds Beach
River Drive, on the Nerang River just behind Surfers Paradise. A small, beloved cottage cafe on the water — brunch, garden tables, and a mooring-and-walk arrival that feels like a secret in the middle of the busiest square kilometre on the coast.
Peters Fish Market and the Broadwater Parklands
Fish and chips on the water at Southport, with the Parklands pontoons right there. The zero-fuss end of the day.
The northern Broadwater
Paradise Point
The Esplanade cafe strip with the Parklands jetty out front — coffee in the morning, casual dinner at night, and the Hollywood Showboat berth if you are combining dinner with a cruise.
Jacobs Well Marina & Tavern
Top of the Broadwater, forty minutes north by water. Tavern on the marina, pelicans, and the classic Sunday run for people who want a destination rather than a suburb.
Tipplers Cafe, South Stradbroke Island
Water access only. Beach, kayaks, a cafe under the pines, and no cars anywhere. The single best half-day the Broadwater offers.

Arriving by boat: the practical bits

- Land at the precinct, not the door. Marina Mirage's public pontoon and Mariner's Cove berths put you within a two-minute walk of everything in Main Beach.
- Book the return at the same time. A timed pick-up costs less than a boat idling through a three-hour dinner, and there is a 15-minute grace window before waiting time applies at $5 per minute.
- Canal pick-ups are normal. If you are staying in a canal home, that pontoon is your departure point — just check the tide with your skipper for very shallow private berths.
- Watch the last leg. Operating hours run to 10:00 pm and same-day bookings close at 9:00 pm.
Weather and the safety net
The Broadwater is protected, but the seaway and the northern reaches get choppy in a strong nor'easter or southerly. Skippers reroute inside the islands rather than punch through it. If an operator cancels for weather, you are refunded in full.
